Febuary 8: Well, we admit it, it's been AAAAAAAGGGGGEEEEEESSSS since we've done ANYTHING to some of our pages. With the exceptions of the Classical Music, Film review and less frequently, the theatre sections, things have been kind of slow recently. Why? Because .... because ... because Oprah got sued, the rupiah's down and we haven't had much time to keep things up. Also, certain co-editors whose names shall not be mentioned (Gerald and Kelvin) have run away with to pursue other less worthy dreams (yeah like getting a real paying job's going to get you ANYWHERE in life), leaving some sections permanently desolate and unfulfilled.
Febuary 8: But things are looking up again. Slightly up, at least. We've made a new commitment to updating links, pages and articles (pages are slowly being updated as we speak), and we have a new theatre editor, a man known only as "that persistent hum." More in time to come.
Meanwhile, need to complain about something? Want to swoop in and save the ailing pop music and book sections of The Flying Inkpot? Send your electronic missives to inkpot@webvisions.com.sg

- What Is The Flying Inkpot?
-
It's an online-only zine with primarily Singaporean rantings, run, written by and for mostly Singaporean layabouts with no lives and too much time on their hands. Some of the things we're into are promoting local writing, local poetry, and talking about the local entertainment scene in long essays with absolutely no pictures. Some times we use pictures. Mostly, we do book, film, music and televisions reviews.

- How Often Does It Actually Come Out?

Each section now regularly updates its reviews and features according to its own schedule. Please check with individual sections (Film, Classical Music, Theatre, Poetry, for others, please go to the Inkpot's main page) for the latest news and articles.

- Who Writes For The Flying Inkpot?
-
Present Inkpot writers are a large band of miscellaneous students, journalists, poets and other loonies from all professions (except accounting). If you'd like to see take a look at our silly masthead, click HERE. If you'd like to see a nude picture of Brad Pitt, click HERE.

- This is terrible. What you've written sucks!: Writing Back
-
If you have a problem with something an Inkpot writer has written, you may use the "COMMENTS" button at the bottom of the article to express your opinion, or you may write personally to our writers themselves. Articles that were put up pre-September 1997 do not have "COMMENTS" buttons. If you like, you can write directly to us concerning these, and your letters will be put up on our Letters page.
If email addresses aren't provided on the article page, check out our Inkpot masthead, which lists all current writers and editors at The Flying Inkpot. Note: The Inkpot masthead is currently under construction, but it should be ready in a few weeks time. If you have urgent queries, write, as always, to inkpot@webvisions.com.sg

- I Wrote Something, Will You Put It Up?
-
Sure. If you have an active internet account, like to write about trivial things and are willing to pay the S$5 000 publishing fee.. Excepting the latter (there *is* no membership fee), we welcome all articles, opinion pieces, jokey things, poetry and nonsense essays from absolutely anyone (except accountants). Address further queries to inkpot@bizdir.com.sg.

REVIEW
The Flying Inkpot started out as a handful of graduate students and guest writers who put up a few mangy reviews every two weeks. Because we weren't sure what we were doing, and because we couldn't be bothered to think of a proper name we called ourselves REVIEW.
-
THE FLYING INKPOT
That title didn't really work, and by our sixth or seven issue we'd expanded so much in terms of the number of writers that our zine was actually big enough to be A Thing. We still couldn't be bothered to think of a proper name, so, well, we thought The Flying Inkpot would be as good as any. (And this was decided after rejecting other versions: The Inkpot Kebayah, The Sarong Party Inkpot, Inkpots R' Us, etc).

- Other Frequently Unasked Questions.
a. What Is A Lamia?
Among the Greeks and Romans, a lamia was a female demon who devoured children and whose name was used to frighten them. She was a Libyan queen beloved by Jupiter, but when robbed of her offspring by the jealous Juno, she became insane and vowed vengeance on all children, whom she decided to start enticing and devouring. In Africa, the race of lamia were said to have the head and breasts of a woman and the body of a serpent, and they enticed strangers into their embraces and devoured them. Keats' poem Lamia (1820) relates the story of a bride who, when recognized by Apollonius as a serpent or lamia, vanishes in an instant.
b. Domain Trading
Recently some people have been asking us if we want to trade domains with them. The answer is: YES, FOR A NIGHT WITH HUGH GRANT AND A TON OF CASH. The answer is: no, we don't, but thanks for asking.
