I read with a great deal of interest the review of the book, The English
Patient, and my experience was identical, ie: very difficult to get into
the book. Unfortunately, I did not get an opportunity to finish the
book. However, I did get to see the movie, and again found it very
difficult to get into. The actors were superb, as was the music, and the
cinematography. But the story itself was dull, uninspiring, and very
un-original. I was disappointed in my disappointment. The other three
people I was with, enjoyed the movie tremendously, one person even cried
openly, as did others in the audience. I guess it was just not "my cup
of tea", so to speak.
